breaks-fed & state regs

I am a regional director for a company in SC; we employ 50 full-time employees,
exempt& non-exempt; can you tell me what the laws are regarding breaks, both
rest breaks & lunch breaks & are these paid or unpaid if they are allowed
or we are entitled to provide them. Thanks.

  • In South Carolina, there is no requirement to give lunch or rest breaks. If you choose to give them, lunch is unpaid provided it is at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted time, away from the work station. Breaks are short periods, usually 15 minutes or less in duration and are considered paid time.
    Hope this helps!
