Rounding Times

We round to the nearest quarter hour. What I want to know is if we should count the entire time worked that day then round to the nearest quarter hour or round the time signed in and out? For example: They signed in at 8:07 and out at 4:25 = 8 hours 18 minutes worked. Rounding when signing in and out would give them 8.5 hours. Rounding hours worked at the end of the day would give them 8.25 hours. Which would be better? It seems like rounding at the end of the day would be more accurate.

We round only once--total time worked at the end of the work week. Years ago we rounded daily, but had too many people working the system.

As long as you round fairly and consistantly (so that sometimes the time is rounded up and sometimes down -- and time is not always rounded down), then either system should work, depending on what is more convient for the company.
