Are employers required to notify the DOL if the employer chooses to change the work schedule hours from 8 hours to 12 hours?

I haven't ever, but I've been mistaken before and haven't gotten caught.

Check your state laws. Some states require notification and some require the permission of the effected employee group. Some also require you to pay overtime after 8 hours.
