Is there an industry standard, guideline or regulation as to how long an employer should maintain an employee's health insurance once they're on LTD?

Yes, they are currently on FMLA. Our LTD program starts after the employee has been off for 90 days. We are tenatively updating our policy to reflect that employment ends after FMLA and all accrued leave has been exhausted. I know COBRA is available, but just wondered if others bridge the gap by extending company contributions to health insurance for a period of time for those leaving due to LTD.

Our program has been 90 days for some time and since this just exceeded the FMLA requirements we have maintained same.

We follow the FMLA guidelines. Our LTD kicks in after the STD, which is 10 weeks.
