Just got an interesting pitch from a guy representing Zywave - a nationwide network of brokers.

Imagine my surprise when he told me he could save me money on our upcoming health insurance renewal./:)

Ok, seriously, he did have mention nationwide group buying power with respect to drug benefits (a group size of 1.8 million people), and, of course he mentioned a number of sizeable companies had signed up, is my cynicism showing?

In any event, do any of you have any good or bad information regarding this group?

The appointment setter is emailing some info to me, but I like to get feedback from real people at real companies.

What PBM will you use for your drug benefits? I will guess that the one you currently use has more than 1.8 million members. Buying power doesn't mean squat for companies when it comes to drugs. It just means that PBM's and brokers will make more money. Just my cynical opinion.

I appreciate the cynicism - I often find myself deeply steeped in it.

This group uses two PBM's, Express Scripts and Systemed.

Don't much more about them yet. Lots of information emailed, but very little substance, mostly just pictures of smiling people - I guess they have a good dental plan?

We were with Express Scripts for a couple of years; 03 and 04. Actually we were with Managed Pharmacy Benefits in 2000, 01 and 02 and they were bought out by Express Scripts. We left them at the end of 02 due to poor response time and went with ProCare Rx. It seemed that Express Scripts was just too big to give much service to us little fish.

They can then provide limited access to their clients at no additional charge through MyWave. "MyWave gives you immediate access to a wide range of value-added resources and solutions to your daily challenges and puts the power of the Internet at your fingertips." Also has an HR Chat forum and other information relevant to HR and alot of Safety/OSHA stuff. I use it occasionally myself. My broker never mentioned that their subscription to ZyWave our our participation in MyWave provides cost savings or purchase power on any specific/exclusive program.
