Are there laws regarding when to and when not to pay mileage reimbursement (I know there are guidelines on amounts), or is it simply a matter of company policy?? We are in Illinois.
Generally speaking, mileage reimbursement is up to the company to determine. Fed allows up to $0.405 per mile, but if the company does not reimburse, the EE can deduct business mileage on his/her tax return.
It is my understanding that a couple of states have mileage reimbursement legislation, but I don't know any detail or even which states.
