Section 125 pretax election & FSA

Does significant curtailment of coverage or a significant cost increase and addition/elimination of a benift equal a qualifying event as far as being able to change section 125 pretax election? And can you change the FSA amount for these reasons?

If I understand the question (?): they can make the appropriate changes in the health insurance premium deduction. However, they would not be allowed to change anything on the medical FSA unless you eliminated the medical insurance coverage...then they could add to or enter the medical FSA.

Our company's benefit person told me that higher copays, etc. isn't a qualifying event, tho it was a few years ago. Eliminating insurance altogether is a qualifying event.

The increase in co-pays would not qualify, but a significant increase in the premium would. The elimination of a benefit would also trigger a qualifying event. The poster is not specific enough to make a decision for certain.
