Short Term Disability - prohibit working while on leave?

At my previous employer, employees who were approved for STD leave were notified in writing of the approval, and also the warning that they should not engage in outside employment while on approved STD leave, or they would jeopardize their STD benefit.

At my current employer, we are working to beef up our employee handbook which includes re-writing our STD policy. I can't find any sample STD policies, and I wondered what others do, whether you notify STD recipients that they cannot work at another job while on leave or if your policy remains silent. Has anyone encountered this situation?:-?
