Is there a law that requires the employer to pay for the cost of a medical benefit a employee has with the employer while the employee is away for 2 week training required for military reserves? If not, how does it work?

Are you asking about the employee's normal contribution, or the cost of the medical benefit plan? If you're asking about the whole cost, why would you bother trying not to pay for two weeks?

We would pay while the employee is off for just the two weeks. However, when the employee is called to active duty they are then eligible for COBRA or the insurance provided by the military.
