Retiree Coverage....COBRA....Both?????

So I'm a little green when it comes to retiree medical coverage issues. #-o

Our medical plan currently includes the availability of retiree coverage. If an employee retires and opts to take and pay for retiree coverage, how does this impact COBRA eligibility?

We are cancelling a retiree's coverage for nonpay. He's had 18 months of coverage. Do we now have to offer COBRA or has that obligation been fulfilled with the continuation of coverage through the retiree option?

Please help . . .
xpray
