Cobra Dental?

Has anyone had to do Cobra notifications for Dental coverage?

We are an employer with over 20 employees, however, we have a defined group of less than 20 that have coverage under a medical plan and a dental plan (two different providers).

I've been told (by the agent and provider) that I must send out Cobra notification for the dental. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

Also, I was told that Cobra didn't apply to the group medical plan, but, a Continuation of Coverage (for 6 months) did (by the provider).

Where can I get accurate information?

 • Yes, your EEs are eligible for Cobra rights for Dental Coverage. We send out the notifications and if someone exercises their rights, we have the appropriate forms to be filled out. We then set up payment arrangements within the regulated guidelines. Your Plan Description or Summary should have the information. If not then I would ask your "AGENT" to provide you with the necessary information and forms.
 • I include the dental cobra in with the medical cobra letter sent to the ee. E-mail me if you would like a copy @ microbeth2@aol.com. Also, our dental is good for 18 months of COBRA. The carrier has a Cobra form for the participant to sign. I mail it with the COBRA letter. I would call your AGENT and ask for the forms, what do you pay them for?
