Employee Anniversary Recognition

In the past, we have always recognized our hourly employees on milestone anniversaries (5 years, 10, 15, etc.) by giving them a bonus based on the number of years of service. We now want to add to that something tangible that they will still have after the money is gone. It must, however, be affordable. Our best solution so far is a service pin. The pin is engraved with the employee's name, the company's name and the number of years of service. Just wanted to find out what kind of luck you all have had with service pins as recogntion devices. Any thoughts?

We switched from the pin system to choice of a pin or a gift certificate. That has worked well. We did a survey prior to the change - the big majority wanted something different - according to most the pins went in a drawer with all the other stuff.

We give a five year pin and at the ten year point, we give a nice engraved clock for their desk plus a private parking space (with a 10 year keychain); at 15 we give an engraved watch.
