Retiree Recognition

When an employee retires from our organization we have a retirement party for him. We are wondering what other companies are providing (if any) for a gift, and what price range is appropriate? Does your company have a written policy? Thanks for your help.

We used to provide our retiring employees with a pair of beautiful rocking chair to go on their porch. They were also nice enough to use inside. The idea was that they had earned some rest and relaxation and we wanted to provide it. For one employee who was a huge golfer, we gave him a new golf club he'd been wanting. Hope that helps.
