Keeping FMLA forms

Is there a requirement that employers must keep FMLA forms that are more than 1 year old? I've got forms that I am holding on to from years back.

  • I found a quick reference that references 3 years, 29 CFR 825.500.

We happen to keep ours longer--the life of the employee relationship in an HR medical file, and consolidated with all other employee records in a single jacket for a period of years post separation date. I would think that 3 years would be the minimum because the records relate so closely with timekeeping/payroll records.
