Drug testing because of new work comp rules

I was wondering, when a employee fills out and accident/incident report, and then says they do not care for medical care. Can we still use the report to require a drug test, just to protect ourselves on automatic dismissal because of our company's no drug policy????

I agree with Don, but follow your company published policy. We stipulate that "if it cost us over $1.00 to get the person repaired, the employee is subject to drug testing". Our thought there was, "a Band-aid used to cost less than $1.00", so first aid treatment would not fall under the conditions for a drug test. I might ought to raise that amount in order to keep things under the inflation spiral!

What is your drug testing policy? Read it an apply it. Also be consistent.
You can test in a situation like this, but if you do, you must do it each time it happens.
