Unemployment and Worker's Comp in Wisconsin

My assistant was on the web site for Wisconsin unemployment and noticed that effective January 4, 2004, they are asking if the claimant has any worker's comp income to report. She called the state and said ee's generally won't know if and how much until after they have to file for UC benefits for a particular week. Two different UC people were not familiar with the "new" rule. One of them said "There's a new rule book in my in tray -- I'll bring it home to read".

Any posters in Wisconsin know about this?

They ask that in my state too, but, they don't use the information in the calculation of benefits. It's more of a trap to find out if the claimant is in fact medically disqualified from benefits, in which case they are denied. Don't know about WI.

I'm in Wisconsin and am not familiar with this. If an employee is claiming UC that means that they are ready and available for work. If a person is getting WC that generally means they are unable to work and as such, are not eligible for UC.
