Am I correct in my understanding,in the state of Alabama?
It's my understanding, unless an injured employee gives up his rights to have workers compensation medical bills paid, that the employer is forever liable to pay those bills. If the employee is given compensation in exchange for settling a medical claim, and the court approves, then the employer would be off the hook for medical, but if that's not the case the medical remains open. For example, if an employee injured on the job in 1995 had a problem with the same injury again in 2004 he would still be entitled to have his medical bills paid, provided they were related to the same injury.
