Employee Handbook Topic

I know that we must include an EEO statement in our handbook, but I am uncertain if we must include language regarding Affirmative Action.

Any advice on this one?

  • Who says you must include an EEO statement in your handbook? Although some companies consider it good practice and politically correct, unless you are covered by Executive Order 11246, meaning you are a government contractor, you neither are required to have such statements in handbooks and recruiting ads, nor are you required to have the elaborately burdensome affirmative action plan.

    You may get all sorts of philosophical and political Forum advice on whether or not you SHOULD do these types of things; but, your question seemed to be, "Do I HAVE to?"
