workmans comp/payroll

The payroll manager came over just now and asked me if Workmans comp is a fring. benefit...I of course told her know and she went on to say that for some reason our payroll/accounting whatever... is rolling workmans comp into a fringe benefit catagory. I am guessing this was done when payroll was set up during our datatel interface. Is there typically a catagory for workmans comp or would it be in a catagory of its own?

We include it in the fringe calculations - strictly internal - for budgeting purposes. It also gets counted in grant applications and spending reports to the grantors.

We too include it in fringe benefits, namely because we are not obligated/required by any federal/state law to offer Kept on Salary pay, instead it is a company choice to have a Kept on Salary policy to avoid higher rates as a result of an injured worker collecting Time Loss money(affects experience factor).
