Law Against Discrimination (LAD)

Has anyone heard of the Law Against Discrimination (LAD) and, if so, can you tell me where I can learn more about it? It was referred to recently in a New Jersey Supreme Court case where morbid obesity is recognized as a handicap under LAD.

  • The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination is a New Jersey state law that applies to New Jersey employers/employees.
  • If you are a Law Center member*, you can find many articles referring to the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (including the case you mentioned) by doing a search in the Newsletter Archive.

    - Log in from our home page [url]www.hrhero.com[/url] (Member Login in upper right corner).
    - Under Newsletter Archive, choose "Search for articles using keywords."
    - Type in "NJLAD" or "law against discrimination" (no quotes) as your search term, then narrow your search to the last 3 years and New Jersey.
    - Click the "Display Articles" button.
