An employee has related to other employees the she has trouble with her sight. She commented on having Maculr degeneration. We have noticed the employee bumping into things and feeling for materials. She works in our Kitchen and handles sharp objects. She is 58 and has been with us for 27 years.

How can this be addressed as nothing has been said to management by her. She has had standard to above standard reveiws in the past.

  • If her performance has been affected, address that issue first. She will most likely bring up the subject of her eyesight at which time you can begin the process of determining whether or not her condition qualifies as ADA. If it does, begin the process of determining what, if any, accomodations can or need to be made to allow her to perform the essential functions of her job.
