PEO & Workers Comp


I have read recently that PEOs are having increasing difficulty obtaining workers comp coverage (especially in the state of FL). Does anyone else have any insight on this issue? We have an affiliate corp (40 emps in manufacturing environment) that is considering outsourcing HR and going with ADP's PEO.

  • The answer is "yes" it is more difficult now. One of the largest PEOs lost their w/c coverage in all states except Texas and Louisiana. ADP is pretty big, but there is no telling what the insurers will decide at renewal time. Fortunately for our PEO, in Texas we can opt out of w/c and offer occupational injury coverage. That doesn't help clients who are required by contract to carry w/c. Good luck. Just do your homework before signing up.
