Application response time for FMLA

Once an employee applies for FMLA what is the time set that the employee must have a response? I am having delays from main office if my company and want to make sure we are not in violation of any laws.

Within 48 hours of receipt of the required documents from the physician and application from the employee, unless there is something missing or you are unable to make a determination based on what you have at hand.
