Intermittent FMLA & Pay

I have a salaried employee who's son will be having extensive testing for schizophrenia and has asked for intermittent FMLA time. The owner of the company has stated that he does not want to pay her for the time she is out - my question - is this possible - the employee plans to be at work everyday for three to four hours or more. I am under the impression that salaried employees get paid for their full 40. Thank you for your help.
