FMLA and absenteeism

Due to issues around absenteeism and tardiness, we are re-writing our admittedly weak and vague policy to include some sort of numerical counter that leads to disciplinary action. Does anyone have a policy that accomplishes this while recognizing the limiting factors of FMLA, Workman's Comp, etc?

We are a non-profit with 60 employees with no time-clock and very few dollars to spend to track all of this. Any ideas?

  • Our supervisors complete a form regarding the absence/tardiness of all employees. If it is vacation I don't get it but I get all the rest on a weekly basis. I use a spreadsheet with each employee having a worksheet and track it that way. I can send it to you if you would like. We have a "points" system to track absences and determine when an EE is to receive warnings, suspensions, etc..
