Bronchitis???

I searched the forum for the answer to my question as I felt I'd see it before, but had no luck. Is bronchitis defined as a serious health condition and therefore eligible for FMLA? The employee has seen a doctor.

  • As has been stated in previous discussions, you should NOT be examining the diagnosis (in fact it isn't even required on the FMLA form) but rather the medical facts surrounding the condition. If the medical facts fall within the "serious health condition" guidelines, it would be covered. If you don't have the medical facts to allow you to make that determination, require that the EE have the form completed properly.
  • As a side note here - any Certificate of Health I have ever received has spelled out the diagnosis in item #4 of the form.
