Multiple FML leaves

Can an employee have multiple FML leaves for family members at one time?
For example, can an employee be on leave at the same time for a serious
health condition for both her husband and child?

I don't see why not. It may help you if it does occur that way. She only has a total of 12 weeks in a rolling year, so how it's used, as long as it's certified, doesn't really become the issue. Wouldn't you rather she be off for 6 weeks caring for both her husband and son, than 6 with one and then 6 with the other?

But she still gets a total of twelve weeks. You can't double count her FMLA because she got two qualifying events at the same time.
