Exempt employee and intermittent FMLA

If I have an exempt employee working 1/2 days or partial days - am I entiteld to calculate her total # of hours (expected to be 40/week +/-) and pay her weekly based on the amount of time she has worked? What is the best way to pay and exempt employee taking intermittent FMLA? I want to be compliant, fair to the employee, and make certain we are not paying for more than we are getting in return? Thanks for your help.
