Have any of you had any experience with a physical gone bad? Here is the condensed version of the story. Our Company Doctor does physical and based on applicants answers doesn''t approve him to work. The applicant goes to his own doctor gets a letter stating all problems have not been an issue for many years and based on that , our company doctor clears him to work. Long story short - after all this we are leary of hiring him and want to rescind offer. Any advice , suggestions, how it has been handled in the past?

I have never had this come up before.

If you extended the applicant the job offer based on passing a pre-employment physical and your company doctor cleared him, unless you have received some information from another source that would disqualify him from consideration, IMO, you don't have any reason to rescind the offer.

Our policy states that if ee's dr. and company's dr. reports conflict, we pay for a third opinion.

That may not help if dr's opinion is based on ee's answers rather than medical proof. EE can always change his story. Don't know if that helps....
