Does anyone know when the classification rules of exempt employees was changed by the FLSA? I received something on it via an unsolicited newsletter and it mentioned they were changed but doesn't give a date.

As far as I know, the FLSA was last clarified (updated) in 2005.

Was that when the salary threshold was raised to $23,660 and they came out with new category definitions?

Yes. That was when they changed the minimum to $455 per week and supposedly 'clarified' how to determine who is exempt and who is not.
