Mandatory Hepatitis A Vaccination

I just came out of a department head meeting and was instructed to find out if we could legally require our food and beverage staff to take mandarory Hepatitis A shots (at our expense). And to also make proof of Hep A vaccination part of our new hire procedures for food & beverage.

Do any of you see a problem with this? Thanks for your imput.

  • I do not think you can mandate it but definitely offer it to employees and have them sign a declination statement if they refuse. This would be similar to an EE refusing to take a hearing test for some reason (I have one who has severe claustrophobia). Require them to sign the declination statement verifying that it was offered at no cost and should they change their mind that they can get it then.
