New E-mail rules

I am interested in how other employers are responding to the new rules on electronic communication that went into effect Dec.1st

I'm working with our IT person to determine if our current network and backup systems will adequately meet the requirements of the new guidelines.

How are you all handling this?

My understanding (which is limited) is that all emails must be stored for a lengthy period of time in a manner that is "easily" accessable in case of investigations or law suits.
