Something between Coordinator and Manager??

Hello HR Friends! I'm hoping you may have suggestions on a job title (and I'm afraid I need them quickly!) :-) It's a Lead Customer Service person who will be handling our National Accounts - we don't want "coordinator" and it's not a manager - something in between? She is now a coordinator and this is somewhat of a promotion - and we would like a title that reflects that...she will also be the one in charge when the manager is gone (sick/vacation, etc.) but will not really be supervising anyone on a regular basis... Help??!!

Maybe check the DOL title listings on their website.

I like Ray's suggestion. Here's a variation of his: Senior Customer Service Specialist.

May be consider something like "National Accounts Customer Service Specialist" (since it sounds like this will be her main duties.) Could also consider NA CS Coordinator, or NA CS Administrator. However, I think that is an "iffy" term. I like Specialist. Tack on Sr. if you feel they need a little more recognition. (I get so upset with folks/employees who get hung up on their titles. I love the company I met that handed out business cards and you had no idea of their title. It wasn't publicized. It turned out I was dealing with one of the VP's and you would have thought that they were a "regular joe". What does it matter what we are called as much as what we accomplish. I think banks are a big example of this. Everyone seems to be a VP or some fancy title, but I don't know that their salary reflects this. Maybe the title is a trade off for less money.)

Administrator is good. We use that in couple areas for the lead person who is responsible for the process but not the people.

Senior, Lead, Administrator, Chief, and Specialist are all used fairly often. We even have some positions numbered: I, II, III,etc... with the higher number being the more advanced position. Just try to keep some consistency going forward.

What will the "rest" of the customer service people be called? I would keep the title somewhat close to what the others are called and add "LEAD" or "SENIOR" possibly.

Contrived titles (in my opinion) don't fool anyone.

Call yourself a "sandwich artist" but you still work at Subway.
