Labovitz, Eugene "Gene" H.
Died on December 17, 2005 of natural causes at age 60. He lived his entire life in Los Angeles County, graduating from Cal State at Northridge. After college he began his life's work with the L.A. County Dept. of Mental Health where he served for more than thirty years. He was an expert in the field of personnel management and human resources whose advice was constantly sought. Gene was a kind and generous person, who would literally give you "the clothes off his back." He possessed a strong ethical and moral fiber; an honest and honorable man who labored his entire life to improve circumstances for those less fortunate. Though somewhat retiring and quiet when first meeting someone, Gene had a terrific sense of humor and sharp wit that could capture the comedy of an issue or situation with a sparkling comment. Gene enjoyed the arts, especially classical music and fine art. He delighted in his entire family: brother, Jeffrey Labovitz and sister, Carol Harris; brother-in-law, David Harris and sister-in-law, Susan Pace. He also leaves adoring nephews Daniel and Matthew Labovitz, Mark and Scott Harris; nieces, Dawn, Laura and Nicole; great niece, Alexandra and great nephew, Dylan. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and co-workers who knew him as a wonderful human being. Funeral services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park (800)600-0076, Los Angeles, California at 12 noon, December 23, 2005.
