Company Newsletter and Theft

We have a weekly newsletter that is attached to employees checks. We use it for annoucements, policy reminders etc. I have been asked to put in an article, very generic, about theft. We have had a complaint recently about lunches being taken from a dept. refrigerator.

Anyone have similar situation? Any suggestions on how to word the article? All help appreciated.

"The ole lunch thief strikes again ploy..."
I guess this has at one time or another been or will be a problem at most very company that allows their ee's to bring in lunches and keep them in a commom fridge. I would recommend something very brief and to the point. Address the issue and then if it continues to occur it must be addressed stronger with the consequences listed as to what will happen if this lunch thief is identified.

I probably would investigate the complaints a little before making any public statement. What if it was misunderstanding or some kind of joke? I'd make every effort to solve the issue quietly rather than make every one wonder "who is the thief?"
