Missing Money

We are having a problem with money being taken from employees' purses. The purses have been either in desk drawers or under desks of employees in individual offices. Many desks do not lock but all employees are advised to keep purses in closed drawers. We have a suspicion who the "taker" might be but have no proof. Any advice or suggestion would be appreciated.

Install closed circuit cameras in your hallways. You'd see who is coming and going into offices.

where are the owners when their purses are being pilfered? I would plan a sting of some sort for sure. Either post a lookout or install a camera like NH recommended. I hope that when you catch him/her there will be nothing short of immediate termination. There is no need for you to post policy notices, hold a staff meeting or tell people to start respecting the property of others. You cannot reverse this person's 'upbringing'.

I agree. Put in a "nanny cam" and catch the perpetrator. Immediate termination would be warranted.

Slow down, have the cameras installed by a professional, catch the person, PROSECUTE the person and FIRE the person...........
To easy to just terminate........prosecute.....

Agree with Ballonman1 but would term then prosecute.
Who is to say that the perpetrator is not obtaining more than just a few bucks from his/her victims/co-workers. With identity theft so rampant these days. I would advise the victims to check their credit report to be safe.

I thought the person who was being robbed would have to prosecute. It's not company property that's being stolen from purses. It would more than likely be petty theft anyway. Who needs the hassle. I don't think the company would be able to prosecute for this.
