Would someone share with me some interview questions for a County Tax Administrator?

  • Do you hang delinquent taxpayers or just throw them in jail?

Seriously though, I would ask questions regarding their familiarity with:

    1. property tax laws and regulations, 2.familiarity with whatever software you have to track the assessment and payment process.
    3. Do they need to know the assessment and appeal process?
    4. How about the third-party purchase of the liens and subsequent cures?
    5. Do they have staff to supervise? If so, then all the normal supervision type questions.
    6. Are they responsible for projections and dividing up the property tax pie? That's probably done during the County budget process.
    7. Are they responsible for working with appraisers that assess value?

These are just a few that you might consider. Others may have more direct experience with this, I am just a homeowner and a former employee of real estate developers.
  • Here's one that brings out some of the most interesting responses that I've ever heard.

"Tell us about a time when your integrity was challenged. What was the issue and how did you handle it?

  • Great one! By the way, has anyone had any fair amount of luck with the seminars on reading body language?
