layoff packages

I am in the process of getting a layoff package together to be prepared for any possible layoff. Does anyone already have a package of information together?

  • MISKLU: I do not have, but I have been through 5 "Reduction in force" programs.
One provided transitional counselling and job referral programs to all of the management staff.
One provided a letter of explanation and a referral letter for me to take to the unemployment office or to any subsequent interviews.
One provided me the opportunity to resign instead of being "laid off".
An two gave me my final checks and an escourt to my car as we passed by my old desk which had my personal belongings boxed up on top of the desk.

So: -letters of explanation are nice to have and know why I was selected.
-Benefits explanation and a sequencing program to tell the employee when they should expect the next event to happen.
-referral letters for personal interviews which explain this RIF action.
-Pay checks and identification of when the last pay check will be provided.

  • Thank you for the input. I have found an information package on the DOL website along with how to apply for unemployment insurance.
We do have an EAP, so I will also see if they have any other info for me to put with the package. Again, Thanks!
