When I log onto AOL there's a news flash about a shocking reduction in force firing of what is called America's most influential woman. Carly Fiorina, head honcho at Hewlitt-Packard has been forced out by the board. Check out the quote below, especially the severance. Reckon she'll be worried about landing a job to keep her bills paid?

"While I regret the board and I have differences about how to execute HP's strategy, I respect their decision," said Fiorina, 50, who is expected to collect a severance package worth $21.1 million.

Ok - $21.1 mm is an outrageous amount, but people at the top of large companies are not in it just for the money. They seem to need the power, authority, perks that go with being the CEO of a large employer and they rarely sit back and rest on their laurels, or rather in this case, their severance nest egg. I guess that old saying is true, that your spending level tolerance increases as your earnings increase, or something like that.

Did ya'll happen to notice what happened to HP's stock upon announcement of the termination? They'll make that severance back - no problem.

AND she can collect Unemployment, depending on whether or not the severance offsets UI. Every little bit helps when you're struggling to get by.
