Sign On/Relocation Bonuses

Good Morning:

Can anyone tell me if it legal to recover a sign on bonus, relocation bonus or company-paid moving expenses from an employee who voluntarily leaves employment with 12 months of the hire date? In our offer letters, it states that if an employee voluntarily leaves employment with in one year, the employee is required to pay back the sign on bonus, relocation bonus and company-paid moving expenses.
I have been getting questioned on this and since I did not draft the "offer letter template", I am asking you for help.

Our company does business in Florida, Alabama, California and Virginia.
