Do you pay for an employee's pre-employment training?

We have hired a few people in the last few months that were asked to attend a training prior to their employment start date. I said we should pay them, but other don't agree. What have you done? Can you suggest a place for me to pull some hard data on this?

(whew. I had to read that myself a couple of times).
If you made it part of a conditional offer, the choice is theirs. They either take the class to be eligible for the position or they choose to not take the class nor the job.

I think he had to empty all of his bottles so they would survive the storm and the only way he could think of to do it was drink the contents. So......
I live in TN, work in KY - has it stopped raining where you are yet? It's starting to clear here - so I don't have a good excuse to empty any bottles..drat!
