Can't believe it!

We HR professionals work so hard to protect employee privacy. Imagine my shock when I called my daughter's supervisor to see if she would mind/be able to give out invitations to her surprise bridal shower to some of the co-workers if I mailed them to her attention and she said "oh hold on I'll give you their home addresses"!!!!!! WOW! Simply amazed me!

Unbelievable! I tell people to look up the address in the phone book and if it isn't in there, they aren't getting it from me. I sure wouldn't want someone giving out my home address which is why I won't give out anyone else's either. People get mad at me but too bad.

What I have done is to suggest they mail all the invites for co-workers to me with stamps and I either give them out or mail them myself. But give out an ee's home address???? No way - NEVER! Like I said I was amazed!

Yes, I do have good intentions! :-) Nonetheless I was floored. So many places of business have no clue about what is going on in the world of HR.

Hey Guys, I have a better one for you. Go to Goggle and in the search window, put in your telephone number. Up comes your name, spouse if you have one, address, and......directions to your home.

There should be a way to block that, but I couldn't find it.

ritaanz: That only works if your telephone number is listed in the phone book. I did mine and got nothing--I have an unlisted phone number.
