MATERNITY LEAVE POLICY

Our company would like to change our current maternity leave policy, and I wanted to see what other companies offer (e.g.eligible time off, amount paid,or unpaid). Any feedback would be most helpful

Our company does not have a "maternity leave policy" per se. We treat maternity leave, if the woman is disabled, just as we would treat any other person who is disabled. We also allow for 12 weeks FML after delivery which must be used concurrently with short term disability/vacation/personal time. After delivery the 12 weeks must be taken all at once. We do not allow intermittent FML after delivery.

Same as Mushroom, we do not have separate maternity leave policy, but offer Short Term Disability (up to 26 weeks if disabled) that runs concurrent with FMLA. We do allow intermittant FMLA and part-time FMLA for returning mother. We normally allow 6 weeks of approved time off for regular delivery and 8 weeks for caesarean (spelling??).

Ours is the same as Mushroom. No intermittent leave for "bonding".

There is no reason to have a pregnancy/maternity policy in this day and age, nor is one recommended or had by anyone I know of.

I would suggest that your company not change your maternity leave policy, but eliminate it all together. Treating maternity differently is illegal.
