How to justify hiring an HR professional

My accounting staff for a country club is also responsible for HR administration along with accounting tasks, as is typical of small businesses. However, revenues over $5,500,000 per year and there are up to 140 employees in peak season. I have proposed hiring an HR professional to the Board and now they want me to justify the position. I need to find a job description as well. Where can I find one and how do I justify the position?
Thanks for your help.

  • In short, once you figure out what this person is going to do (essential job functions) you may call a competitor or similiar organization to your organziation who may have a job description. Or you can create your own from that same job description. Business and Legal Reports usually has good job descriptions.
Justification will depend on how badly you need this position. Obviously you want to focus on how the business will benefit from having such a position. You can also focus on how the business has changed and the workload has increased.
