Company housing & terminations

Texas employer here with a company that provides housing to some employees. Question is...When an employee is fired, how much time is legally required to allow the employee to move out of company housing?

I might add this employee was terminated for harassment of other employees and dishonesty. Of course we would like to see him gone yesterday. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joel

  • Check your local statutes relative to resident apartment managers, which may be some guidance. In my state, company-provided housing (e.g., for an apartment manager) does not create a tenancy and the employee is not covered by Oregon landlord-tenant protections. Therefore, if we terminate an apartment manager we can expect them to vacate immediately (as a customary practice, we usually give them 24-72 hours depending upon the nature of the termination).
