Concealed Weapon Law -- Missouri

On October 11 the concealed weapon bill becomes law in Missouri. Does anyone know what the specifics of the notification that needs to be posted are -- (size of sign, size of lettering, etc.)

  • I don't know if this will help but MN requirements are: the sign must be posted prominently and within 4 ft laterally of the entrance with the bottom of the sign at a height of 4-6 ft above the floor. Lettering in black arial typeface at least 1-1/2 inches in height against a bright contrasting background that is at least 187 square inches in area.
  • Thank you for replying. Can you tell me the wording that needs to be displayed, too? I have purused the bill and found the minimums on the lettering and size of sign, but I do not find anything specific as to the wording. Also have found that a sign needs to be posted at each entrance to the building as well as the parking lot(s).
  • The wording is: (COMPANY NAME) BANS GUNS IN THESE PREMISES. Every entrance is correct. In MN we also have to verbally tell everyone that we ban guns.
  • In Kentucky, the Concealed Weapons Permits are issued by each individual county sheriff's department. Call them and ask.

Unfortunately every state has different regulations. When I travel I have to research each state to see whether or not I have become a felon.

Virtually every state that has "must issue" permits allows employers to ban guns from the premises, but in some states you may not be able to ban guns from the employer's parking lot, but only the buildings.

You should also look into the transport of weapons in Company cars that are supplied for the employee's personal use and company use.

In the socialist states of Maryland, Mass., Delaware, Calif., and a few others, the rights are so restrictive only policticians, moviestars and politicially connected criminals are allowed permits.

Your biggest threat is not those who get legal permits, but I would not condone concealed weapons in the building.
  • the sign must be a minimum of 11inches by 14 inches and the letter must be at least 1 inch in height. While there is no specific language required, the word "prohibited" is specifically required. Our attorneys suggested the following:
"The possession of concealed firarms on these premises is strictly prohibited."
It was also suggest that if you wish that all all weapons, whether or not concealed, are to be banned from your premises that you add a second line as follows:
"The possession of all fireams and other weapons on these premises is strictly prohibited."
Keep in mind that the concealed weapon can be in their vehicle on your property as long as they do not remove it or use it on your property.
    Hope this helps.
