Record conversation HELP FAST

The MIS Manager and the Controller are meeting today to go over our Company systems including configurations. I will be present while this is going on and we want (need) to record the conversation for documentation. I know that all parties need to be aware that we are recording the conversation and we will make sure we all do. What happends if one individual refuses or doesn't want to be recorder. Can this employee refuse?? I have a meeting in 30 minutes. What's new I just found out. THe life in HR!!!

Check your state law. Sorry I'm not familiar with AZ. In Oregon, you can record a conversation if at least one person knows it's being recorded.

The same is true for NY, only person one has to know.

I'm probably too late for this one, but maybe can help you on the next one. I'd start the meeting by saying, "We need someone to take notes and document all the decisions we make here today or we can save ourselves the trouble and just record this meeting." Anyone who objects gets to take the notes and have them distributed to everyone else for approval. Everybody's happy!

It's probably beside the point, but why would a meeting like this need to be recorded? Sounds like a typical business meeting of managers discussing operations. Tape recording it???????????
