I have 42 employees in my org, most very professional. Open enrollment is over, I've done classification reviews, reviewed both personnel files and HRIS,and it's just really a slow time. I was going to find out what other HR pro's do when times are slow, everyone is behaving, and things are going really smooth. tks

Oh, for a "dry spell" . . . I'd give you one of my vacations days--or better yet, a vacation week--for one!! Ditto the other respondents' comments, but how about reviewing the communications pieces that you use for employees, as well?

Work an eight hour day. If it's a major dry spell, a 7 1/2 hr. day. If it's a drought, I wait patiently for all hell (am I allowed to say that) to break loose.

Spend more time wandering the properties, talking to employees, asking how thigns are going. That usually results in PLENTY of more work to do. (Funny how more work is created by simply asking questions)

Obsan, I spend down time furthering my knowledge of HR issues by catching up reading the number of electronic newsletters we subcribe to and also surfing the net for more info. I have created my own files on virtually every HR issue and topic that I can refer to when needed. I also look for new ideas to present same old topics to managers and employees regarding sexual harassment,race discrimination etc. It's also a good time for me to do some housekeeping to clean up the chaos I have created during the busy times. And, oh yes, I take lunches and they are more than an hour.
