Now that I have your attention, my boss and I disagree on whether many companies do criminal background checks. I have two quick questions:

1. Do you do criminal background checks?
2. How many ee's do you have?

Yes, even though we only hire the best bare naked ladies around.

We have about 2400 bare naked ladies including licensed professionals. I'm the only clothed male around.

What company do you use to get your background checks? I get advertisements in the mail for someone doing this for me but not sure if it is valid? They do criminal records, credit, driving, worker's comp, ss verification and employer referencing for less than $20 per check. Does this sound normal?

Yes, we do . . . 1,200 employees (not all bare naked ladies--we'd never get ANYTHING done!)

We do statewide (meaning state they were recruited from) background and social security checks. We also do drug screens.

I'm afraid I might turn into the boy that cried wolf. I promise I'll never do this again. I actually got it from a band called the bare naked ladies. When they started out they did it to get people to come to their show. They are actually a good band with an incredible live performace.

Am I the only one who's disappointed that this isn't a discussion about the rock band? I love 'em, I met 'em, I got all their CDs (except the stinky Maroon).

SMace, they are all just jealous because they didn't think of it first. I did actually think of the band when I saw the subject line. Never seen them live, but do like their music.

I hate it but we don't do background checks. We have 250 employees in Alabama and about 2200 nationally.

We have 108 employees (manufacturing environment). We only do criminal background checks on our delivery drivers & accounting folks.

Nationwide we have 50k+ employees. Your question was about criminal background checks. We do those on certain levels of employees. Not on factory workers. Any candidate for the following levels, yes: engineering, accounting/finance, customer service, HR, sales, legal (ahem), quality control, and any management or supervisory level position. We do the employment type background checks on all employees, including a urinalysis on temps. Naked ladies must be capable of supporting the weight of normal clothing but that is a question and answer test only, nothing physical.
