Vendor Insurance Certificates

Hi, I'm new to HR and have lots to learn as I do not have formal training, so I may be leaning hard on all of you! Right now I am looking for help on a template for requests for insurance certificates from vendors. Also need guidelines as to when to request that we are named additional insured. We provide engineering consulting and use drillers frequently. I think we should be named additional insured on these certificates. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think your own insurance agent should be able to give you some guidelines for outside vendor certificates.

Some of the smaller companies that you work with may not be able to provide the type of insurance you require OR it may not be cost-effective for them to do so. One of the ways we've worked with such vendors is to require them to obtain a bond for the value of the work outlined in the contract. This has worked out rather well for us.
